It has been my absolute privilege and pleasure to have been the professional leader of Waitaki Girls’ for the past 3 terms.

Next term we hope to unveil the commemorative planting we have done to honour Georgie Salter. We will let everyone know when and where.

Jemma Buchanan and Brylee Lemm have studied Agriculture throughout their time at Waitaki Girls’ High School. Along with school classes, they’ve completed Telford studies and farm work placements through the school’s Gateway program.

Last week I was lucky enough to be apart of a military camp course which is run by New Zealand Blue Light.

Twenty three Year 12 PE students rode 55 km from the back of Lake Aviemore to Duntroon on Wednesday 9 September to complete practical assessment for two Achievement Standards.

Our Year 9A and 10A netball teams travelled to Dunedin on Sunday 13th and Monday 14th September to compete in this annual - albeit somewhat delayed - tournament.

Earlier this term on the 3rd August Hannah Shallish, year 9, went to the Aurora Science Fair in Dunedin with her project " Ready, Steady, Mould!"

Tuesday 8 September we had our very first Talent Challenge, which consisted of house competitions of choirs, dances, and drama.

At 7am on Friday 11th September 52 excited Year 9 and 10 students (2 teams of 8 from Year 10 and 4 teams from Year 9 plus a team combined with Waitaki Boys’ High School) set off for an outdoor adventure in Dunedin.

After the success of last year's initiative to have WGHS players part of the newly created Valley Women's team, we are again collaborating to get as many girls as possible playing cricket.

The over-riding feeling was happy exhaustion when we left Cardrona. We'd had two beaut days in the sun and made the absolute most of our time in the snow.

On Thursday the 27 August the year 11 PE classes travelled to Timaru and Geraldine to participate in rock climbing, high ropes and the confidence course.
