It was wonderful to welcome so many new and prospective students and parents to our Open Night last week. I want to share with you some of the feedback we have received.

You might like your daughter to go on this camp but the cost is a barrier.

We have a newly elected staff representative, Mrs Jessica Wright. Mrs Wright takes over from Mr Smith who left at the end of Term 2.

For the safety and security of everyone on our campus, if you need to deliver anything to your daughter during the school day, we ask that you do this via the school office. It is important that we know who is on our campus at any given time.

Another successful Quadrangular Interschool took place this week, with a new format!

WGHS Swimmers are back in action in Dunedin

Combining with SKC for the 2020 season is showing to be a winning formula for our rugby players.

The standard of the Year 9 speeches was excellent this year and we are always proud of the resilience that the girls show in completing their speeches in front of the audience. Congratulations to Olika Sekei (1st) and Molly Mansfield (2nd).

We once again took two Year 9 teams and two year 10 teams to the Aoraki Mathletics in Timaru on the 5th August.

This year, Enviro Club are focused on our school’s waste management.

On the 2nd August a small team from Oamaru travelled to Christchurch to compete in the first of 3 Trampoline competitions that make up the 2020 Super Series that is a ‘replacement’ for the cancelled regional and national events.

It was fabulous to finally head away on the year 13 History trip to Banks Peninsula last Friday.

We are holding our Hands On Day for Year 8 students on Friday 28 August. This means school will finish early on that day at 12.25pm, at the end of Period 3. Buses will run as normal at 3.20pm.

As part of their study towards the New Zealand Certificate in Skills for Living Learning Centre pupils have been exploring a range of different crafting activities.

The Year 9 classes travelled to the Forrester Gallery to view the Oceans exhibit, as part of their Science work.
