Last week began with our Year 13 students visiting the tertiary institutions of their choice in either Dunedin or Christchurch. This gave them the opportunity to understand what these places offer and begin their preparation for 2021…and then on Tuesday evening the country heard the effects of the reality of this global pandemic. What a feeling of déjà vu!

Year 9 Project Based Learning

9TU had their final presentations in the Science rotation of Project based learning this week. Students designed their own products, and then tried to sell them to the class using pseudo-science, marketing techniques and a website of their own design.

The Joy of Reading

As recent research has confirmed what most secondary teachers are already aware of, the joy of reading is fast disappearing from the lives of 21st century teenagers. This is something that worries us, who not only are passionate readers ourselves, but also firmly believe that when teenagers enjoy reading, there is a definite flow on effect to improved academic results in all classes.
