The majority of our events we run as pop-in sessions, so you can come whenever suits you between 10AM - 1PM on a Saturday in the Christchurch Botanic Gardens.
Be sure to click on the event details below so you can stay notified about these upcoming events:
July 1st and 8th: Matariki Lantern Upcycle Workshop (2-weekend event): https://fb.me/e/7gDZN70at
Christchurch Envirokids, Creative Junk, and Richmond Community Garden are teaming up to make sure Matariki is celebrated with some incredible upcycled lanterns! This event will run two weekends in a row to ensure all of our Envirokids get a chance to make their own lantern.
THESE ARE FREE EVENTS! No need to bring anything along with you, just a creative mindset.
Creative Junk is bringing materials for us to use that have been donated, and therefore diverted from landfill! We are thankful to partner with them, as they are always such a valuable resource for our upcycle workshops.
Richmond Community Garden has plenty of events to celebrate Matariki that you can bring your lanterns along to. Check out their page to stay up to date on all Matariki events.
July 15th: Make Your Own Boat Using Natural Materials for KidsFest: https://fb.me/e/3KeJkExpF
Come celebrate Kidsfest in the Botanic Gardens with Envirokids!
This FREE event will include boat making from natural materials, learning about density, and a short nature scavenger hunt! All materials for the boats will be natural, so you can go to test your boat in the river!
July 22nd: Plastic Free July- Plastic Free Sea Creatures Upcycle Workshop: https://fb.me/e/HSPr6Uyr
Plastic Free July is all about reducing plastic, educating on plastic pollution, and advocating for reusing, rethinking, and reimagining plastic. We understand that plastic is ending up in our oceans, so we are using plastic to inspire tamariki to think about the sea creatures who are affected by this.
For this upcycle workshop with Creative Junk, we are focusing on a plastic free sea - with a fun spin on sea creatures!
July 29th: Make a Tracking Tunnel with Envirokids: https://fb.me/e/3qJ73RRqU
Come learn about NZ predators and take home a tool you can make to track what predators are near your home. Meet Marie from Predator Free Port Hills and discuss with her how you can help to track and trap these predators.
Tracking tunnels are valuable resources to be able to get the family involved in seeing what kind of pests and predators are hanging around in your back yard.
