Waitākiri Admin —

Our Wai and Rangi (Travis, Ōtākaro, Ruru and Korimako) athletics was a great day, thank you to the whānau who supported your tamariki and to the staff for all they did to make the day run smoothly.

The effort and attitude from all students was to be commended. Yesterday Zone athletics was a real success for those students who were representing Waitākiri. Congratulations to all who took part and for those who have made it through to the Canterbury Athletics finals. Our Whenua (Burwood and Windsor) athletics is on tomorrow, Thursday the 9th of November at 1:30pm. We look forward to seeing you there.

Once again the Christchurch Primary Schools Music Festival was really impressive, they had the theme of ‘space’ for their songs this year. It was a night enjoyed by all and an amazing opportunity for our students to sing in a massive choir in a quality venue.

I had the pleasure of taking our year 6 Girls Cricket team to a tournament last Wednesday and they were awesome! We won two games and lost two. The girls learnt a lot and had a heap of fun.

Last week we had Gumboot Friday and managed to raise almost $600 for children’s mental health. This is a great cause and something that we are proud to support.

Thank you for your support by completing various surveys to assist the Board of Trustees in setting our strategic direction for 2024 - 2025. We have started some initial planning based on the feedback from students, parents and staff. There is more specific feedback from our Board of Trustees in this newsletter. We will be able to share our full strategic direction by the end of the year.

Thank you so much to the parents who are on the fundraising committee for the new swimming pool. If you have any bright ideas or would like to be part of the committee please get in touch with the office. We are still waiting for consent. This should come through very soon.

We have our End of Year Celebration this Friday night, 10 November. All students will be performing. Please see the advertised poster and timetable for more details. I look forward to seeing you all there!
