An action-packed beginning to 2021

Chris Smith —

I have the feeling that we will blink and the end of this term will be upon us.

Thanks to all those who attended our Parent-Teacher interviews this week. Having an opportunity to begin, or continue, your relationship with your child's teacher is an important aspect of schooling. I do encourage you to take on board what was discussed, as do we, and look to do all that you can for your tamariki.

Plenty happening across the school and no two weeks are ever the same. This week we have had specialists in assisting with sport - netball, rugby league and cricket. We have had two lots of 12 Principals and Lead Teachers from a South Otago cluster visiting with us and chatting with myself, staff and pupils. As you are aware we had parent interviews earlier in the week and this coming Sunday with are having our annual Hui. We are having refresher training for our Year 6 road patrollers and all of the various sports teams firing on all cylinders. A neat place to be in our opinion.

We had our first formal Board meeting of 2021 a couple of weeks ago in which we co-opted two new members - Andy Holborrow who will take over finance. Simon Wilson who will be assisting with the self review. Michelle Cone was elected as Board Chair and Jason Sargeant as the Deputy Chair.

Each year it is a requirement that I share with the community our Concerns and Complaints Policy. Please have a read and should the need arise for you to wish to discuss anything with us please follow the steps outlined there.

Lastly, my thanks to the staff who have worked so well as a team thus far in 2021 going above and beyond for the Wakari community.

Kind regards

Chris
