Flexible Learning Environments

Chris Smith —

The Holidays in some ways seem a distant memory and Wakari is now into the swing of teaching and learning.

We are in the final planning stages for our upgrade of 3 of the Hubs across the school. This will cause some inconvenience for our learners whilst the renovations are happening but that will be outweighed I am sure by the final results. We hope to have our plans out to tender and to the Ministry over the upcoming weeks. It would be great if we were underway by the beginning of Term 2.

School Board of Trustees elections are happening this June. Please see an article in this publication relating to the elections. If you are interested in standing to serve the School feel free to drop in and have a chat with me about what the role entails or contact one of our current members.

Road Safety is a constant concern for Schools around New Zealand and Wakari is no different. I spoke at the last assembly around the importance of using the crossings provided. It is currently a few of our parents that are choosing to ignore common sense. The worry for the School is that children without caregivers copy the behaviour of some of our adults and look to cross in inappropriate places.

Plenty upcoming with Parent Interviews, a notice will come home next week, and swimming across all Syndicates fast approaching.

Well done to all those involved in the Year 6 Camp held at Iona across last week. As always if you have anything that I can be of assistance with pop in for a chat.

Regards Chris
