Water Champions to the Rescue at Wakari School

Roz Dowland —

Several weeks ago, Room 16 children recieved a very distressing letter from Freddie the fish, who lives in the stream across the road from Wakari School. It said, ''Please Help Me !'' They decided to investigate Freddies problem further. Here's what they discovered.

Fredddie explained that after it rained, a lot of rubbish and harmful chemicals flowed into his stream from the storm water drain, causing it to become very polluted. The pollution was making Freddie and his friends very sick. He asked the children why this was happening and if they could stop it from happening again. The children decided they would become 'Water Champions', and help teach others about the causes of storm water pollution and ways it could be stopped. They came up with a lot of good ideas and published them in a Pop Up book. They named the book, 'Water Champions to The Rescue At Wakari School'. Here is a sample of their great ideas and illustrations.
