Plenty happening for Wakari learners

Chris Smith —

We have hit the final term of 2016 full of gusto and enthusiasm to make this term the best of the year to date.

As is the standard at Wakari there are plenty of learning opportunities for our kids this term. Syndicates are delving into their major topics, the 'Friday Project' continues to evolve and our Year 5 pupils are off at camp.

Summer sports are underway and my thanks to those who have stepped up to assist with a team in one way or another. The online registration system was hopefully easy for you to navigate and did help organisation from our end.

Next week I will be presenting to our Board of Trustees comparative data on attendance across the last 5 years for Wakari pupils. The government aim is that children attend 90% of the time. Currently, at Wakari School 83% of children achieve this. This is a marked improvement from 73% in 2013.

Planning for classes for the 2017 school year will begin shortly. Parents are welcome to speak with Syndicate Leaders  if they have any questions or requests about their child’s placement for the 2017 year.  If your child is in Year 4 or 5 you should see Mrs Gribben. If your child is in Year 2 or 3 you should see Mrs Lowden

Please be aware that not all requests are able to be met and while we consider parent preferences, the placement of each child is based upon the needs of the children, our staffing and the class structures within the school. Please ensure that if you wish to discuss this you do so by Monday the 14th of November. The final decisions will be made by the Senior Management team. Children will be made aware which class they are in for 2017 later this term.

Kind Regards

Chris Smith
