An exciting and busy Term in Rooms 12 and 13.

Anna Lawson —

We have had such a busy term in Room 12 and 13, so many fun activities and projects. The children have really been showing us their creativity and perserverance working on a variety of tasks.

The term started with our school cross country, where our children participated in the fun run.  We continued building our fitness, and physical skills with skipping and a striking unit with balls.  This was complimented with our Commonwealth games unit where the children learnt about the Commonwealth focusing on two countries in our Hub, Pakistan and Samoa.  The Junior Syndicate finished this unit with our own Commonwealth games, which included a march with flags, a variety of sports and even a medal ceremony.

The children had fun making masks, which as you can see showed a lot of flair and imagination.  They also enjoyed working with Pip in a number of smaller groups working on some amazing creations.  It was lovely to see how this inspired many of the children to work on their own projects at home, which they were keen to share with each other in our news sessions.

Drama, music and dance also were an important part of the term, with our amazing Kapa Haka group, and the children who chose not to join this group still having weekly sessions learning Waiata and exploring some Maori myths and legends. On Fridays the children had drama sessions and dance.  We were also lucky enough this term to have Ukuleles with Mrs Gribben every Monday morning.

What a busy term we had, it was lovely to end the term with a fun visit from Strike a percussion group.  The Room 12 and 13 children were active participants with Mrs Bonney, Jana and Rosaria showing off their talents on the drums.  Thank you children for such a great term, Mrs Bonney and I are looking forward to Term 4.
