Ripper Time at Rippa

Carolyn Robins —

Georgia and Bridget from Otago Rugby came along to help some of our Wakari Seniors fine tune their rippa skills ahead of the Metro Rippa Tournament.

Georgia and Bridget came to our school to help us practice rippa for the Metro Rippa Tournament that's on the 31st May.  We did some drills like passing, quick passing, relay passing and practiced getting rips quickly.

We also played rats v rabbits where we had a partner and one was a rat and one was a rabbit. If they called 'rat' the rat would run away and the rabbit would have to run and try and get their rips before they made it to the line.  It was really fun!

Then we played a cone game where you had to follow their commands like 'heads' or 'toes' or 'shoulders' and touch that bit then when they said 'cone' you had to grab the cone before your partner.

At the end we played a game of rippa.  The blue team won, it was 4-5.  They had one more player though.

It was so fun.  It was a pleasure to have them come and help us with our rippa.  Some of our skills have improved.  We're really excited about the tournament!
