A successful term completed to start 2016

Chris Smith —

Thanks for the support for the school across term 1. 90% of you attended interviews last week, what an effort!

Although disjointed, term 1 has proven to be a good launching pad for our learners for 2016. There has been plenty for the pupils to throw their energies at and I am proud of those who have stepped up to give something new a go.

Thanks to the parents who contributed to our Year 6 leaver profiles. We are revisiting our Vision and Value statements as part of our whole professional development programme in term 3 and I am currently putting together a snapshot of aspirations that our staff, parents and children have for the 'look' of our children as they leave Wakari.

Tomorrow is the final day at Wakari for Miss Andrea Benwell. Andrea has been an integral component of the Wakari Community for over 10 years. "Miss B", as she is known by the children, is moving to Te Huruhi School on Waiheke Island. A fabulous teacher, member of staff and person, Andrea will be sorely missed. On behalf of the staff, pupils and Board of Trustees I wish Andrea the very best in what the future holds. Miss Brittany Laing will be teaching in Room 15 for the remainder of 2016.

I wish you and your whanau all the best for the upcoming holiday and look forward to seeing the children again next term.
