Latest Board Update

Chris Smith —

Please see an update on Board happenings from our long-serving member Duncan Trickey.

Kia ora tātou,

I take pleasure in writing the Board update for the newsletter. The Board would like to acknowledge all the work of the staff who have maintained the property, kept the administration wheels turning and of course continued to deliver an exciting and varied programme to our tamariki. We hope they get time for a well-earned recharge in the holidays as term two will be just as exciting.

The Board were really happy to have Pip Dick report back on the progress made across the Hills Cluster in their development of the digital technologies curriculum across the clusters. Wakari and the teachers have been seen to develop their capabilities in delivering exciting outputs for the ākonga whether this be through Virtual Reality Apps, Robotics or some of the fantastic digital art we are seeing.

Building projects are starting to get out of the drawing board stage and into the tender process. These offer us a fantastic opportunity to future proof the property and ensure it is a quality environment for both teachers and students.

The Home and School committee continues to grow, though more parents are always welcome, and it was fantastic to see the successful disco raise over 800 dollars. This money goes a long way to helping provide services like the Chat Bus. The school fair is on the horizon and all help is welcome.

We also had the report back from the Hāutu group that facilitated a whānau hui recently thank you to all the whānau that attended. The group is working towards our first Matariki celebration on the final week of term two.

We hope that both you and your tamariki can have a restful time over the break and come back to term two hungry to learn.
