Whanau Hui and Pacifica Fono a success

Chris Smith —

Over the last couple of weeks it has been great to receive feedback from our Maori and Pacifica families

Thanks to those parents who have attended, or fed in to support, our get-together's over the last fortnight. These evenings are an opportunity for the Board and Staff to let you know how some of our focuses have been going and what some of our thoughts are for the future. It was great to receive feedback and to have challenges laid at our door to ensure we continue to make incremental improvements for all of our learners.

Winter Sports are well underway and it was great to see a number of Wakari children (both past and present) at the Kaikorai Clubrooms receiving player of the day awards late on Saturday afternoon. It was also pleasing to see so many of our young ones playing in the Green Island Football tournament on Sunday.

On past pupil achievements, it was with great pride that I watched Kelly Brazier dodge and weave her way through the entire Australian women's sevens team to score the winning try to give New Zealand a gold medal in the recent Commonwealth games, Well Done Kelly!

Lastly, as I mentioned at Assembly last week the kids are doing a great job at working within our new Hub system. I thanked them and the staff for the efforts to date. We have been operating in our Hubs for a little over a term and we as a leadership team are happy with the progress to date.

Regards Chris
