Room 9 artists have been busy.

Anna Ollerenshaw —

In Room 9 we have been doing portrait art.

First we learnt how to draw a face accurately. The eyes are half way down the face. The nose bridge reaches to your eyes and the top of the mouth is shaped like two mountains and the bottom of the mouth is called a boat shape. Next we went over our work with sharpie and began to paint the face, neck and hair. When using water colour paints if the paper gets too wet it rips the paper. Use lots of colour and not much water to get a dark colour, and for a lighter colour use water and not much colour. After that we painted the top.

We used emotion colours to shade the background with pictures of symbols that describe us. Red is excitement, action and energy. Purple is creativity, mystery and magic. Blue is calm, trusting and thoughtful. Green is fresh, growth and balance. Yellow is warmth, happiness and comfort. Orange is friendly, fun and optimistic.

We are really proud of our self portraits, we hope you like them too.
