How to Make a Waste Free Lunch-Tip Number 1.

Lynda Bardwell —

Last Thursday the Enviro Kids met with Jennie the Enviro Schools Coordinator. We have decided that we are going to give families some useful ideas on how to reduce the amount of rubbish in school lunches along with how you can save money! Here is our first tip.

We compared the cost of a large packet of vege crisps with a multi bag of crisps.  We found out that:

1. If you buy the big bag and put the crisps into recyclable  containers you save $1. If you put crisps into your lunch every day, over a year you would save $40! They weigh exactly the same.

2. If you only used the big bags, we would not throw away over 400 little bags a year!

We have included a photo of some handy containers and how much each of them cost.  The stackable containers cost about $6 .  They can be used over and over again.   We hope to see lots more of them being used.
