Metro Rippa Day at Forsyth Barr Stadium.

Anna Ollerenshaw —

Five talented Wakari teams headed to the Forsyth Barr Stadium on Wednesday for a fun day of rippa rugby.

On the 19th of June 2019 some of the Seniors went to a rippa tournament. There were three groups; group1, group2 and group3. We all played at different times. On the bus we had a really fun time traveling to the OTAGO Forsyth Bar Stadium. When we got there we all got in to our groups and lined up to go in. When we got in we all found our seats where we would sit. Then Ruby’s dad Kurt gave our group (which was group 3) our rippa belts. Then we finally got up and had our first game. We played St Bernadettes first. And we won 5-3 yay. For the second round we played Outram and they won 9-8 which was a really tight win. Then for the 3rd game we lost again the scores were 5 -7. For the two last rounds we didn’t know the scores but we won one and lost the last round which was sad for us but at least we still had lots and lots of fun. By Keira and Milly

On Wednesday we went to Forsyth Barr Stadium. There we were split into three teams. Each team played five games. Only two teams go down and two win the finals. Three games will get you to the semi-finals. When you win that you go to the finals, where you will win or lose your choice. My advice: Play hard and never give up!!! By Jack, Takaia and Ryder.

On Wednesday the 19th of June some students went to represent the school at Forsyth Barr Stadium playing a tournament of rippa rugby against a lot of different schools around Dunedin, all the way to Waikouaiti. Our team won 2 games, lost 2 games and tied the other. Our school did really well at the tournament, entering 5 teams, 2 Middles teams and 3 Senior teams. By Ruben, Ben and Felix.

On the 19th of June some of the Wakari school Senior and Middle Hubs left school at 5 past 9 to go to the stadium to play rippa rugby. The Seniors had three teams Thank you to the parent helpers and teachers that came along on the trip. By Elijah, Charlie and Roree

We played Fairfield, East Taieri, Silverstream, Columba Navy and St Clair. Team two were really cooperative and played really well.

Rawan - On Wednesday 1pth on a cold frosty morning all the kids who are playing rippa came to Room 9 we sat down and the teacher called out the teams and each team had an adult. So after that we went to the bus stop and got on the bus and on the way we saw some middles waving us. Then when we arrived we had to wait till red badge open the door so we could go in.  Then some red badges came and opened the door for us.  Then we went with our coach and sat on the seats (they flip up) and placed our bags and jackets in front of us and went to warm up. For our first game we versed Fairfield Bulldogs at 9:45am and we lost. Then at 10:30 we versed East Taieri white. We played a lot more games and had a great day.

LUCY-we played five games of rippa rugby versing five other schools. We won 2 games out of five. We versed Fairfield, East Taieri White, Silverstream, Columba Navy, and St Clair. On the 19th of June a whole lot of kids from the Middle and Senior Syndicates went to The Ripper Rugby Tournament at the Forsyth Barr Stadium. We had a lot of fun, it was pretty cold but we got used to it. We played five games and then we had the semi-finals and then the finals. We were very tired at the end but it was worth it. We played warm-up games with our parent helpers.
