The Home and School Committee wish to extend their thanks and gratitude to all of those that have supported our fundraising efforts this year. The past few years have been incredibly challenging with Covid-19 restrictions. The fundraisers over the last two terms such as the discos, honey, juices, and pies have raised approximately $3000 for our tamariki to utilise within the school.

This Friday the 25th of November we have our final disco for the year and the children are very excited to attend and celebrate the end of the year. All profits raised from this disco will be put towards our year 6 camp. This will be greatly received as the cost of camp has increased and this will greatly reduce the cost to parents.

The Home and School Committee are busy planning our events for 2023 which included a garage sale, market day, bingo night, quiz night and other smaller fundraisers such as discos and similar fundraising items we have sold this year. We are always open to suggestions for further fundraisers so if there is something you would like us to consider please reach out to us on our email below.

As always we are in need of more volunteers to help fundraise for the school and we would like to invite anyone who wishes to attend our first meeting next year to come along on Wednesday the 15th February at 7pm in the new hub. Meetings run for one hour. In March we will hold our AGM date and time TBC.

Finally, we wish to thank those who are leaving the home school committee as they end their journey at Wakari School. Lucy Newton as our teacher representative has a new position at Andersons Bay school we wish her all the best in her new role. Nicky Ross a long standing and knowledgeable parent of the Home and School Committee will be greatly missed and takes a wealth of knowledge with her. We thank you for your time and commitment over the years Nicky.

We also wish Chris Smith safe travels and good luck in his new role as Principal at the Cotswold Primary School in Christchurch. Thank you for entertaining and supporting the committee fundraising ideas over your 10 years at Wakari school. You will be greatly missed.
