Visitors from Otago University.

Anna Hartley —

Three postdoctorate students from the University of Otago's Geology Department came to visit the Senior Syndicate.

The Senior Syndicate were lucky to have students from the University of Otago's Geology Department come and spend time with us. They told us  about our term 3 topic - volcanoes, in particular the Dunedin Volcano. The students got to look at maps, hold rock samples and ask loads of questions! Thank you to Rachael, Emma and Yuval for coming to share your knowledge with us. Here are some things we found interesting!

* 'I learnt that rocks can be as old as 10 million years old.' - Tom D.

* 'I really enjoyed learning about the rock that was shaped like a hexagon.' - Tom R.

* 'My favourite part was when we got to touch the rocks.' - Kaisey

* 'Learning that the mantle in the rock is green was so interesting.' - Lacey

* 'My favourite part was looking at the rocks. I learnt a lot in a short space of time.' - Natalie
