Antarctica Topic

Shaun Robinson —

Check out what Rooms 2 and 3 have been up to...

This term Rooms 2 and 3 have been looking at Antarctica and have been enjoying our individual research. We have come up with around 5 questions each to research and presented them using our SMARTS which are: logic smart, people smart, music smart, self smart, nature smart, body smart, picture smart and word smart.

I am self smart and I chose to do a diary entry about Early Explorers. I learnt that Roald Amundsen was the first person on Antarctica he brought 52 dogs with him but only 11 survived. I enjoyed researching it all and finding out more about explorers.

I have created a penguin quiz for Antarctica research as well as a slideshow of the quiz. I have enjoyed testing the quiz out on the kids in room 2 and 3 and I waited a long time to present it.

We have been doing Antarctica research for our topic. At the start we got to pick what we were doing our research on. We had over a week to find out our questions and present them. I did a poster on the humpback whale and beatboxed for Jake Hill's rap. I liked finding out my questions and laying it out on the poster.

I did a role play with Brayden and we pretended we were reporters. I interviewed Brayden about ice breaker ships and he interviewed me about dolphins. Answering the questions was pretty hard but it was fun.

I enjoyed researching my topic and I found it very interesting and hard to do. I am music smart so I had to make sounds to represent my wonderings. One of these sounds was the life cycle of an emperor penguin. Dad made a joke that he might wrap me up in a blanket and pretend I was an egg.
