Hills Cluster Community Expo

Alisha DeCourcy —

What an amazing display of work we saw at the expo this week! Well done to all students for their hard work. Here are some Room 8 kids thoughts about the expo.

The Expo

Yesterday I went to the Hills Cluster community expo to present my project. For my project I did an N.X.T mindstorms robot that delivers food to the patients and doctors. It took ages to build and even longer to code. We named him Eleganto, which means elegant boy because it has elegant in it and TO means boy. I didn’t do it all by myself though I did it with my friend Felipe. After a little bit I went to look at some other people's work. They were incredible. There was even a digestive system in Minecraft! - By Tommy

Before I arrived at the Dunedin Community Gallery I was a nervous wreck. The expo was on the 19th of October 2020. I went in the afternoon section (2:30 to 5:00 pm). My friend Tommy and I were doing a robot named Eleganto for our project. He was used to deliver supplies to the doctor's desired location. You might be thinking that is what most robots do but Eleganto is different. Behind him is an engine that moves stuff to a ramp and then to where the supplies need to be. The expo itself was a big expo kind of. It was great seeing other peoples work. The expo was a great experience to get to be apart of. I’ll never forget it.
