Otago Rippa Rugby Tournament

Chloe Barton —

After competing so well at the Metro Rippa day earlier this term, Wakari school were invited to send a Middle and Senior team to compete in the Otago Rippa Tournament at Forsyth Barr Stadium.

Both teams did exceptionally well across the day. The team work and encouragement from each other was awesome to see. The Middle team secured a spot in the final and came away with a very close 8-7 loss! It was a proud day to be a Wakari kid (and adult!)

I loved scoring the tries and having my mum there to help coach and support. - Rosie R14

It was so much fun getting into the finals. I was so happy and excited! - Oakley R16

I liked when my mum came to support me and I got rips and tries. - Shapiro R14

I liked sprinting down the field and having people cheer me on! - Sloane R16

I liked beating the team that we had lost to in the first tournament. I felt proud of myself because they were pretty good and I got three tries in a row! - Mackay R16
