The Friday Tramping Group get tramping!

Caroline Brown —

The Senior Tramping group have been having lots of fun checking out local walks, as well as picking up some tips for being safe in the bush. We really appreciated having help from Paula, Alyce, Amy and Connor during the term.

The first term I did tramping for my Friday Project. We went to 3 Mile Hill. Amy showed us what a beacon is. We ran into a creek on the way and we had a bit of fun in the creek. Then we ended up at a bench. We sat down and had a bit of food. Then we walked back to the cars and came back to school.  By Noah S.

We went tramping at Ross Creek and I tripped over a big root. Luckily we had a first aid kit with us so Mrs Brown had to clean it up. Then we built bivouac. It was really fun.      By Paige K

Hi, I’m going to talk to you about damper and tents.   Damper is a food that you eat if you're going tramping but you only eat it in emergencies. It doesn't taste that good. If you are going camping or tramping you can use a tent. Always make sure that you pack it up properly.                 By Ashton

At Redwoods there are really steep hills and dead trees. It was really steep and muddy. It was really fun and there were stones that told us what was there,  like the troll house and bridge as well as bike trails.      By Michaela

First we went in the big painted container to get the tent gear. We went up on top field and started making the tent. After we made the tent we went down to the bbq and started to cook the damper. Annabelle did not like the damper - so I had it. I loved the damper! It was delicious I really want to make damper again sometime.                    By Thomas M.

We went to Ross Creek and we made a Bivouac together. It was fun. We collected lots of big sticks and made a shelter. It was really fun. Connor told us some tips about tramping like make sure that you tell somebody before you go in case of an emergency.   I loved  tramping because we got lots of exercise and it was  fun playing in the bushes and rivers. I am happy that I chose tramping for my Friday Project.                By Mae.

For tramping we went to Redwoods it was really fun. We went on the Holler Coaster Track at Redwoods The best part of the Holler Coaster was the really steep part.   By Tommy W.

Me and Yannic met Amy at the Office. Then we went back to class. We talked about how to be safe when you are tramping. Then we went to the Three Mile Hill track. We went walking.  Then we stopped at a little river. We stopped for morning tea. It was fun. We played on the rocks. There were tunnels near the river so we put sticks and rocks down them to see if they floated down to the other end. We went to sit down on a bench and we looked at Amy's beacon. If you don't know what a beacon is, it is like a distress signal that tells Search & Rescue people where you are and to come and get you. Then we walked up the track back into the car and back to school. Now I know when I get lost to stay put and make a bivouac. I had lots of fun. It was really fantastic.                    By Annabelle
