Would you like to be high in the trees?
The Room 7 reading class have been creating some 'moment in time' quick writes inspired by this picture. We have tried to describe how we might feel about being high up in the trees and things that we may notice. We hope you enjoy them.
I heard the trees creaking and climbers squealing with excitement.
I saw a row of massive trees in front of me.
I felt scared and worried that the rope would snap.
I tasted worry lingering in my stomach.
I wondered if I should’ve gotten off just a minute ago.
I smelt fresh oxygen that the trees were jumping out for me to breathe.

I felt my heart beating in my chest.
I heard the leaves rustling in the wind.
I saw the other climbers crying for their mums.
I wondered if the other climbers had found their mums.
I smelt the tears of the other climbers as they cried for their mums.
I tasted the fear of that kid as he cried for his mother to come and rescue him.

I heard kids crying because they didn’t want to climb.
I saw wires connected to the trees. I saw the person behind me.
I felt the vibrations on the wires from the other people.
I wondered if I would fall off and get hurt myself.

I heard only my heavy breathing.
I saw the cloudy sky upwards and the daredevil drop below me.
I felt worried yet driven.
I wondered if I would get out of this alive.
I smelled the tension.
I tasted the sweat pouring down my face.

I could see plenty of trees in the distance like an army ready to fight.
I could hear trees bashing together in the wind 'bish bosh'.
I could smell sap from the pine trees leaking out like a leaky tap.
I could feel the metal wire holding up my life.
I could taste the fear clouding up my lungs.
All I could think about was, 'Why did I do this?'

I’m a nervous wreck. I'm not sure my legs will hold much longer.
They are wobbling on the thin rope. I am surrounded by a wall of big trees.
I can hear the wind brushing up against the trees and screams. I'm not sure if that's other people or just my insides yelling at me. People are laughing and I'm not sure why because this is terrifying.
I can smell the pine scent but it only makes me more nervous.
I can feel my heart pounding out of my body and my clammy hands.
I can't really taste anything apart from my nails for chewing them lots.

When I burnt my eye.
I heard myself crying hard.
I smelt bacon and eggs.
I felt sore, and hurt.
I tasted fear.
I saw nothing, really.
