What more could you want?

Chris Smith —

What an excellent start by our tamariki to term 3!

We really have hit the ground running. Our Cross Country followed by the Hills Cluster event yesterday showed the resilience of lots of pupils by taking on a challenge and giving it their very best. One of the highlights of our event was the parental support shown by all of the adults in attendance. Even more gratifying was that you, our community, cheered on every child that ran past you, what excellent role models.

Congratulations to the Middle Syndicate staff and pupils for the WOW production that concluded last night. I am sure you would agree that the effort, originality and enjoyment on the faces of the performers were evidence of a well constructed Project Based Learning topic. We now look forward to the Junior Production 'Otago, My Home'.

There are a plethora of opportunities available to our learners across this term and I do encourage you to support them with these choices. Such support may include ensuring they are off to bed at a reasonable time, getting some exercise after school, or after tea, as the days lengthen, may also be of benefit.

Of late within our senior students we have had more instances of negative behaviour spurned from social media out of school time. Most social media apps are restricted to 13 years of age or older, however, many of our children are on such platforms. It is imperative you are aware of what your child is doing online. A reminder that no cell phones are allowed at school unless you have met with me to discuss why your child requires one. Thanks for your support with this.

So much to enjoy for the remainder of the term and I look forward to watching it all play out.

As always if I can be of assistance please pop in to see me.

Regards

Chris
