Tikanga Wakari - Radio Stars! And....Our Polyfest Performance Date for 2019!

Heather Bonney —

Our Tikanga Wakari Kapa Haka group have been learning amazing waiata and our school Haka. They have been working hard to get ready for the big stage!

Recently Shannon Colbert (the Schools' Liaison for OAR FM, Dunedin's Communitiy Access Radio station) came to visit our Kapa Haka practice and record our students' voices as they sang and then performed our Haka!  This recording will be shared on the radio today! The recording will be available on today at 3:30pm.  You can also access the recording on the OAR FM website:

We have received the performance timetable from the organisers at the Otago Māori and Pacific Island Festival. Our Tikanga Wakari Kapa Haka group will be performing on  Wednesday 11th September at approximately 11.20am . The festival may be running early or running late, so the organisers advise parents, family and friends who would like to attend to try and come early if they can so they don't miss out. You will be able to watch all the other fabulous Dunedin schools performing that day too! We really hope you will be able to come along and support us! There is a small charge of $2 per audience member.

Our Kapa Haka group also have the chance to perform to the Wakari Kindy students on the same week (Tuesday 10th September at 9.45am). The kindy students will be coming along to Wakari School to watch our Kapa Haka group perform before showing us their performance. Tū meke! (Awesome!)
