Wakari Shines

Chris Smith —

What a fabulous school to be a part of! The tamariki this year has lived up to our high expectations.

What an excellent term the learners and staff at Wakari have had. The attitudes of all the key contributors have been as good as I have seen over the last 10 years. No one key ingredient has defined this more than the collective good of all of our stakeholders heading in the right direction - He waka eke noa. Let's ensure we do the best for the tamariki and continue to support them through the final few weeks of the school year.

At our recent Board of Trustees meeting Mrs Gribben shared a couple of insights into the learning at Wakari. The first was a pleasing look at the way our Maths results have improved with the advent of the Pr1me Maths programme and some excellent teaching. The second was a look at the 'Stream Team' a group of young Wakari scientists that, with support from varying experts, has been looking into the health of the local waterways. Keep an eye out for some school-wide action on this in 2023.

Our property project around the lift and Admin upgrade continues to progress and all indications point to the project being completed by the end of Term 1 2023. What an asset this will prove to be.

I thank all parents/caregivers for their continued support and look forward to completing the year on a high. As always if I can be of assistance do pop in to see me.

Regards,

Chris
