Welcome to Alisha DeCourcy and Lucy Newton

Chris Smith —

Towards the end of Term 3, the Board and Leadership Team worked through a couple of staffing appointments. Please see Blurbs from our new staff below. Congratulations to Chloe Barton who was appointed during this process on a permanent basis.

My name is Alisha DeCourcy, I am currently living in Cromwell and am in my first year of teaching.  I am no stranger to Wakari School.  I was a Teacher Aide here in 2014 – this was the job that made me realise I wanted to be a teacher.  I was also at Wakari for my 3rd-year teacher training last year.  In my time outside of teaching, I love spending time with my partner, family and friends.  I also have a big passion for singing and performing in musicals.  I am really looking forward to being a part of the amazing Wakari community again next year.

My name is Lucy Newton and I currently live in Wellington and have been here for the past four years.  I moved here from Dunedin for my first teaching job straight out of Uni.  During this time I have been teaching in a school that has made my love of teaching and children grow even more than when I started.  I love to cook, spend time with my friends and family and also keep myself fit and healthy by exploring nature and the outdoors.  My partner Will and I are really looking forward to the big move to the South Island and being closer to family.  I have heard many great things about Wakari School and look forward to being a part of the community.

Both Alisha and Lucy will travel to Dunedin to join their respective teaching teams this term when Syndicates are released to look at planning for 2019.

Regards Chris
