O'Mathalon

Katy Fitzgerald —

2 groups of senior students recently represented Wakari School at the O'Mathalon competition at The Edgar Centre.

The O'Mathalon is a maths competition where you answer questions and have a runner and someone that stays at the table to answer questions. We thought the O'Mathalon would be a bit easier but it was slightly harder than we thought it would be. We didn’t make the top three but still did quite a good job.

We had an ID card that our runner had to give to the marker otherwise we had to run all the way back to our table and get it. We had a specific way we had to run to get to the markers and that was quite annoying but we were allowed to run straight back to our table after we had our questions marked.

In our team Kate, Kaylea and Toby were runners and Hamish didn’t leave the table, otherwise we would all be too puffed out to talk.

The year 6 team also enjoyed their afternoon and found the questions challenging but fun. The team included Charlie Bauchop, Amber McPhee, Liliya Ushakova-Colling and Jacob Crowl. Thanks to Tim Colling for taking the team to the O'Mathalon.
