The Winter Sports season has officially come to an end, rather abruptly for many of our teams. However all of the children had an amazing season and got to enjoy their time playing a variety of sports.

The Miniball was a great success with two Senior teams who played a great season.  The team work in these teams was very special to see, and the spirit of sportsmanship was a real reflection of the Wakari Values.  Well done to this super group of Seniors.  For the first year ever Otago Basketball offered a Junior League.  This was very popular and we had three Junior teams. I was very impressed with the standard of play amongst these young players, most of them had never played before. There were some real superstars, every week the teams gained in skills and confidence and it was brilliant to see how all of the children developed over the season.  Well done to you all.

We unfortunately did not have enough children to field a Hockey team this year, which was disappointing.  Likewise we did not have enough for a Senior or Junior Netball team. Three of our Seniors Ella Glover, Alise Keys and Aleija Ellmore were able to play for Kaikorai who were short of players.  Thank you to Eden Ellmore who organised this.  I am very hopeful that next year we will be able to have our own Junior and Senior teams, after coaching a very enthusiastic group of girls from the Middle Syndicate, I know we have the skills and potential for a very strong Senior team and I am looking forward to seeing this group develop.  Thank you to the Middle's Wakari Gold netball team for an amazing, fun season.  I enjoyed being your coach immensely.

I must thank all of the Parents who volunteered to take on Manager and Reffing roles,  (who can forget Mr Smith on the court with his bobble hat). We would not be able to have the teams and sport at Wakari without your support. Once again thank you to all the children who gave it their all, and supported each other with such enthusiasm and pride.
