New Wall Mural

Admin —

You may have noticed a new wall display at the end of the office wall

We are very grateful to Tim Kemmett from Sharp Signs who installed the panels just in time for Mr Smith to see it before he left at the end of the year.

The display was designed by a group of middle and senior students in Term 4 of 2022. Mr Smith wanted something welcoming that could be seen from the street and which would give people a sense of what makes Wakari School special. The group spent time with Tim Kemmett learning about types of signage and designs. They explored the key ideas they wanted to get across about the school and agreed that kindness, friendliness, and making people feel welcome was central to being part of the Wakari School community. They wanted to include the school values and Te Reo Māori. Thank you to Heather Bonney and Michelle Matthews for their support and advice with Te Reo. The children spent a lot of time exploring symbols and shapes they could include. We are thrilled with the final design…as are the children who created it.
