Underway!

Chris Smith —

It is 'all go' on the top field as the 6-month construction of a new three classroom hub gets underway.

Plenty for the tamariki to focus on in recent days with a digger widening the access driveway to the top field. It will be neat for the community to be able to see the progress as it unfolds.

Last week Mrs Gribben and I met with our lead evaluation partner from the Education Review Office (ERO) to begin our new review cycle.

"ERO is shifting to a more developmental approach to evaluation, supporting each school’s improvement over time. An ERO evaluation partner will work alongside our school, building a professional relationship over time. ERO’s evaluation role will connect with each school’s strategic planning and reporting cycle as part of an ongoing improvement journey. ERO is supporting schools to build and sustain high-quality evaluation as part of their planning for improvement focus. Consideration of a school within its wider network and community is woven throughout the new Operating Model, which will also identify an opportunity to undertake evaluations at a community level."

We look forward to working with Rachel Davis throughout the upcoming years.

More information is available on the ERO website: New Schools Operating Model | Education Review Office (ero.govt.nz)

Of late we have been made aware that a number of children have mobile phones at school. There is no need, nor is this allowed. If you believe you are the exception to the rule please give me a call to explain your case, otherwise thanks for your help with this.

Shortly we welcome Georgie Bond back to teaching at Wakari. She will be working in the New Entrant/Year 1 Hub. Great to have you back Georgie.

Just a reminder that next Friday 18 June is Teacher Only Day. Therefore school will be closed for instruction on this day.

If I can be of any assistance please let me know.

Nga Mihi,

Chris
