Room 4 - Ruma wha
What has been happening in Room 4?
Kia Ora. You may have read in a previous newsletter article, Room 4 and Room 12 have been busy monitoring what nocturnal creatures are living in our school. From the tracking cards and chew cards we decided that the marks were left by stoats, possums and possibly hedgehogs. We decided to test our theory and place a live trap to see if we could catch one of these sneaky nocturnal creatures. To our great surprise we caught a hedgehog. We released the hedgehog into a bush area and reset the trap. We caught another hedgehog and then another! A total of three. We have decided that there must be a big family of hedgehogs living in the school. Are possums and stoats living here too? We are not sure. Maybe they are to cunning to walk into our trap!
We have had our first live bug in our weta motel. This is a little wooden box that they like to live in. However, we didn't get a weta, we got three earwigs.
So what else has been happening in Room 4?
During maths we have learnt about angles with 1/4 and 1/2 turns, measuring the surface area of simple shapes and we have been counting money.

The children have had a great start to their swimming lessons. A perfect way to cool down during a very warm week.
The children have made very cool and classy paper mache masks. A photo was taken with their masks on and this is what is on their 2016 calendar. The calendars are still available and you can place an order at the school office.
