Chatbus Counselling for Children

Delwynne Robertson —

The Chatbus is happy to be back supporting the Wakari Community for 2020.

All ChatBus counsellors are professionally trained and are members of a professional body such as NZAC. They receive regular clinical supervision and engage in regular professional development. Counsellors work closely with the schools; liaising with, or referring to, other professionals/agencies as required.

ChatBus is available at the child’s school, on safe, familiar territory, yet one step removed from the school system. The child is the client, and as such, the child’s privacy and confidentiality are respected. However, we understand that children come as part of a family, and when the child discloses information which the counsellor considers would be beneficial for others to know, the counsellor will talk with the child about telling appropriate other adults (whether that be a parent or teacher).

All children are welcome to attend the Chatbus. If you would like your child to attend this service, please make contact with the School.

NOTE: All enrolments from 2019 will have this permission on the enrolment form.

Our counsellor is Kimberley O’Neill (B Couns. Reg NZAC)

Kimberley is at Wakari every Wednesday and Thursday and can be contacted on 022 597 6301 or kimberley@chatbus.org.nz or parents are welcome to leave a note in the small blue box on the desk in the office.

Thank you for the continued support from the Home and School Committee who assist with the funding for the Chatbus.
