Year 5 have a blast at camp!

Caroline Brown —

Recently the Year 5's had a wonderful experience on their camp at Waiora. The sun shone and the campers loved every minute of it. A massive thanks to the parents that came along and helped out. Bring on Year 6 camp at Pukerau!

One thing I liked about camp was abseiling because I tried level 3 and It was soooo fun!

Orienteering I found kind of challenging because there were some where you looked everywhere and they still weren’t there! And once we walked past a really obvious one and when we came past it again was right in front of us. But otherwise it was really fun!

Another thing I really loved was going down the water slide with my friends because me and Marnie held hands when we were going down the slide. And when me and Olive went down we went so fast that we almost went over the edge!             By Gracie

Year five camp was lots of fun. There were lots of new challenges that I have never done before and lots of new foods I've never tried. My favourite activity was probably abseiling because I've never done it before. My favourite meal was the meatloaf because it was delicious. I'm really looking forward to year 6 camp next year!         By Sam G

I really enjoyed camp because I got to go down level three two times on abseiling.

I got to do lots of my favourite activities like the waterslide cause I went flying in the air heaps of times. I really enjoyed hanging out with all my friends. My favourite duty was the dining room because you got to put all the cups out and I tried to carry seven cups in one hand.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner were amazing because there were so many choices to choose from.

I can't wait until I can go to year six camp at Camp Columba.        By Carson

At camp I really enjoyed abseiling because the start was quite challenging because it was a bit steep but then I got quite used to it.

My bunk room buddy Ally was so helpful when things got hard.

On the first night we had sausages and vegetables for tea. The sausages were so good.

I also really enjoyed the water slide because I almost went flying off the edge but not quite and you get to go down the water slide with your friends.

Year 4's I recommend to try everything even if you think that it’s going to be scary.

My favourite activity at camp was orienteering because it was very challenging and fun. My group was called Pathfinders. First we went swimming, then abseiling, orienteering, archery, air rifles and confidence course. Most the activities were kind of easy. I thought it was a great experience going to camp.            By Ethan

My favourite activity at camp was abseiling because I love heights and I wanted to give it a try. My favourite meal at camp was the meatloaf because it was very juicy and yummy.         By Jonty

My favourite meal was obviously the meatloaf because it was really warm, nice and not that flakey. My favourite activities were either archery and air rifles or orienteering because they were really challenging to win and it was something you don't do everyday.

My dislike about camp was how the girls' bunk rooms were so small and close to each other that people kept ding dong ditching us!

My favourite duty was the breakfast dishes because they weren't that hard to wash.

Camp was really fun and I can't wait till Year Six camp!!!        By Lexi

Year 5 camp was so much fun.

I really enjoyed playing murder mystery and meeting Judge De Courcy because some of the people were scary like Kelly and some of the people funny like Micheal.

My favourite part of camp was the water slide because at the start I lay on my back and you go really fast - I almost flew off the edge. By Olive

First we went swimming I was so excited until I went in. It was ice cold! I heard girls screaming. My feet were pink. It was quite disappointing.

My favourite part about camp was abseiling. I was scared at first. I even cried. I thought I was going to die. Suddenly it was fun. I loved it. I was sad when I got to the bottom. I also liked the ambrosia. It was delicious.             by Liam Bennett

At year 5 camp the year fives had tons of fun. Surprisingly the food wasn't bad. In fact nothing was bad apart from the nature walk(maybe). The activities were fabulous. My favourite activity was abseiling but the belt dug in which was sore more to the end. In rifle shooting my best shot was a six, three of my bullets hit the target. The other two hit the paper.          By Josh G
