Year 6 Camp 2019

Alisha DeCourcy —

Recently the Year 6s had an amazing week away at Camp Iona. We had stunning weather, and a whole lot of fun! Thank you to all the people who made this Camp so successful! Here are some highlights....

Two weeks ago, the Year 6s went to camp. Everything was great fun. Overall Year 6 camp was by far, my best experience at Wakari school. My favourite part was Search and Rescue because we had to find adults and heal them! By Brooklyn Jackson

Year 6 Camp was amazing! The best part was the food and the activities such as yachting and kayaking and raft building. By April Kerr

My favourite part of Camp Iona was the River Gorge trip. The zipline was so much fun, and abseiling was awesome because it felt like you were walking down a building. By James Pedersen

The best part about Camp Iona was the raft building. It was a long walk to get there, but worth it in the end. I liked how we got to make rafts, and the equipment we got to use. It taught us to work in a team and use everyone’s ideas at once. We got the chance to try again if our raft didn’t work out the first time. It was so much fun! By Sophie Mosley

My favourite Camp Iona activity was air rifles. It was awesome trying something new, because we don’t usually get to do that. I hit the target, it was cool seeing where I had hit. By Nick MacGregor

A cool part about Camp Iona was the Yachting. We learnt how to sail, when the wind is behind you, you go really fast. It took awhile to get used to steering yourself in the yacht and working out which direction to go, but once we got the hang of it was so much fun. By Ruben Karawana.
