Parking and Pedestrian Problems

Chris Smith —

Child safety is a major concern for staff, parents, and the kids themselves.

I am not one to tell off the whole class for one child's indiscretion so if you are in the 90% that follow basic common sense there is no need for you to read on.

Can adults who are dropping off and collecting children please refrain from the following:

  • Parking in the staff car park.
  • Walking through the staff car park.
  • Parking on yellow lines.
  • Parking in the 'pick up / drop off' zone and leaving your car.
  • Completing U-turns on the busy Helensburgh Road.
  • Using the staff car park driveway as a turning point.
  • Jaywalking across Helensburgh Road.
  • Parking on the curb beside the pedestrian crossing on Helensburgh Road.

Can adults please continue to do the following;

  • Use pedestrian crossings even if this adds a minute or two to your commute.
  • Walk through the tunnel and exit the school grounds via the junior playground area thus avoiding walking past the busy staff car park entrance.
  • Use the 'pick up / drop off' zone appropriately.
  • Keep an eye out for our wee ones.

Your support is appreciated, it would be an absolute tragedy if something was to happen to a Wakari child due to adults not being road smart and safety conscious.

Regards

Chris
