The Senior Hub have been busy making flower presses for our Farieality topic. The petals, ferns and leaves are currently pressing as we begin designing our outfits and wardrobes. Read below to learn how to make your own flower press.

HOW TO MAKE YOUR FLOWER PRESS

What will you need to make your flower press?

  1. Wood (20 x 15 cm) 

  2.  11.Sharpie

  3. Sandpaper

  4. Flowers

  5. Pencil 

  6. Tape

  7. Hot Poker  

  8. Paint (optional)

  9. Drill  

  10. A Place to work on

  11. Tissue paper (for layers of flowers) 1

  12.  Safety wood

  13. Nuts and bolts

  14. Power box

  15. Water color or dye 

  16. Extension cord

  17. Cardboard 

  18. Templates (to cut the cardboard out of)

  19. Vivid 

  20. Scissors

Method

1. Firstly, get your wood wherever you want to work and sandpaper all the edges and corners of your wood.

2. Secondly, write your name and then use a drill on your safety wood and drill a hole from every corner so you can fit your nuts and bolts.

3. Thirdly, with a pencil sketch your design, add a custom theme or use nature.

4. Next, hook up an extension cord to the power box and then get a hot poker, put the black cord in the black input and put the red in low, med, or high input.

5. After, use the hot poker, remember to lightly dab it.

6. After Step 5 after using your hot poker use felts and dye to colour it in.

7. Next use a sharpie to trace around the templates and use scissors to cut it.

8. Add the cardboard to the wood, then get your flowers and tissue paper and put the flowers in the tissue paper and repeat it, then add the nuts and bolts and screw then on to finish it. Wait 2-3 weeks to press it.
