Whānau Wānanga (Family Day/Workshop) at Wakari School!

Heather Bonney —

In a week and a half (on December 1st) we will be hosting a Whānau Wānanga (family/day workshop) at our school to give our families the opportunity to experience some of our beautiful Māori arts - such as poi, harakeke (flax weaving), whakairoiro (carving)...and more!

Our Whānau Wānanga (family workshop) is a chance for us in the Wakari School Community to celebrate and experience some of our Māori arts. Please join us for a fun and interactive day!

WHEN? Sunday 1st December, 10am - 1pm (lunch will be provided)

WHERE? At the Wakari School Hall

WHAT? We will have a selection of Māori Arts activities for families to come along and experience: Harekeke (Flax Weaving), Poi, Rākau (stick games/songs), Kowhaiwhai symbols and patterns, Whakairoiro (carving - in Oamaru stone), and more!

If you have an area of interest or expertise and can help us out on the day, please get in contact with Heather Bonney in Room 1 (hbonney@wakari.school.nz), we would love your support!
