2020 a Slam Dunk

Chris Smith —

Great to see the results of the hard-working Home and School being utilised by the children.

The successful start for our learners has continued with a lot being accomplished already at Wakari.

Congratulations to the senior syndicate teachers, especially Mrs Brown, for the camp held at Iona last week. Of course, this would not be possible without the support of an excellent group of parents and some pretty neat kids. When your child heads away to Year 5 or 6 Camp, if you get a chance to go with them, a fun-filled and eventful time will be had by you and your child.

There has been some rather staggering statistics around the dropping percentages of primary aged children across New Zealand in regards to attendance. By no means should children attend if they are unwell but it is vitally important for children, both academically and socially, for your child to attend school regularly. Regular School attendance means your child is at with us 90% of the time.

Some pleasing news from our council recently that there will be some safety upgrades to the roading around the school. Once I have received an accurate picture of what this involves I will share this with you.

Last week we welcomed back Kimberly and the Chatbus, see an article in this publication around what this service offers the families at Wakari.

If I can be of any assistance to drop in and see me.

Regards Chris
