Tournament of Minds 2017

TOM Team —

See how the TOM team got on this year.

The Tournament of Minds team that travelled to Christchurch were outstanding. They worked very well together for the six weeks prior to the competition, researching, writing the script, making props and rehearsing. They had to complete a large amount of paperwork themselves and were not allowed any help with any parts of the challenge. Thank you to the team for all the preparation they did for the competition and also for the way they represented Wakari School. I felt very proud to be associated with this fabulous team. Thanks also to the Parents for transporting the children to Christchurch and for the support they provided.

On Saturday the 2nd of September a group of 7 kids from Wakari school and heaps of other schools travelled up to Christchurch for a competition called Tournament of Minds. First we met outside the gate, then we went inside to practise. We went to a table and read through our script about 3 or 4 times. Then we got asked to wait outside the room. Later we got asked to go inside, our hearts were racing we were so nervous. When we got in there the judges did the roll call and made sure that they had the right school. Then we performed our Long Term Challenge play in front of the judges and the parents. When we finished the parents left and the judges gave us some feedback. They said that we got extra points for handing in the paperwork. After that we had lunch and played on the playground. There was a giant spider web we played tag on it. After lunch we did our Spontaneous Challenge. It was fun.
