Room 8 has their say!

Alisha DeCourcy —

Last week the Senior Syndicate did some learning around the NZ elections. On Friday we got the chance to have a go at 'voting', just like the real thing!

On Friday the Senior Hub went down to the hall for voting. First we went up to Tracey and Ginni and got our name crossed off. Then we got a voting sheet, three people at a time went up to the booths on the stage, chose who we wanted then folded the sheet up and put it in the voting box.

At lunch the teachers counted the votes. On Monday, everyone was asking who won the votes. It was Labour also known as Jacinda Ardern. By Keziah

Vote

Voting is easy! Go to a voting station and tell them your name. Then you will go to a booth. Tick what you want and put it in the box. You have to be 18 to vote. Don't tell people who you voted for, keep it to yourself. Then election day see if your vote won and if it did you can celebrate with your friends that you watched with. - By Devon

Voting is a pretty simple process, you just walk up towards the counter at your nearest voting station (e.g. Wakari School hall) then the people behind the counter will ask you your name and birth date and will hand you your ballot, walk to the voting booth and fill out the ballot. From there you put your ballot into the ballot box, there you’re done easy as pie!
