Senior Hub Structures

Anna Ollerenshaw —

For the past term the Senior Hub's PBL focus has been Structures.

Our driving question was: "How can we design and create a structure that is strong, durable and fit for purpose?”

The children spent lots of time learning about different structures, what makes them strong, durable, and functional. They looked at famous structures, and also how structures have changed through time.

The children then sketched a design of a structure they wanted to build. They made a prototype out of cardboard, gave and received constructive feedback/feedforward, then got busy creating their final structure.

Along the way the children met with their peers who provided ideas and shared discussions about how to improve or tweek their builds.

The final products were shared during an Expo where all their hard work was displayed on the deck for the school to come and enjoy.

We are so proud of the children's hard work, problem solving, perseverance, persistence and final products.
