Principal's Post
Term 3 has been filled with a great variety of exciting events.
We have had dress up day fundraisers for Red Nose Day and Green Day. Thanks to Carolyn Robins for initiating the Red Nose Day activities and assembling a fantastic team of helpers from the Senior Syndicate to run the activities to raise money for Child Health Research. Green Day was organised by Lyra Stevens and Emma O'Brien. All proceeds from Green Day went to the Dunedin Wildlife Hospital. It is wonderful to see tamariki getting involved to raise money for these great causes. We feel very proud of their efforts. Thank you to everyone who supported these fundraisers.
Thanks also to our very busy Home and School fundraising committee for holding the Bingo night. Many families and businesses were extremely generous, donating some fantastic raffle prizes. We really appreciate all of the work that goes into organising these events and thank those who supported the Bingo night to make it successful.
The Cluster Cross Country event was held in perfect conditions. Our runners represented the school so well. They put in their best effort and gave it everything they had. I was so proud watching all of the races and seeing the green shirts cross the line. All the best for those in Year 5 and 6 who were placed in the top 10. They will go on to compete at the Otago Cross Country Champs on Friday 5th September.
A big thank you to Constable Ross Greer for his 'Keeping Ourselves Safe' work in all classes. It is a really important programme and Constable Ross does a fabulous job to support teachers. All syndicates are currently undertaking a project repurposing old toys. It has been great to see the range of planned uses and I look forward to see finished results at the end of the term. The Juniors have also been very lucky to have had visits from the Fire Service who are working on the 'Firewise' programme with tamariki.
The Year 4s have just had their Museum sleepover. Well done to Mrs Bonney and the team for their organisation and effort to make this special event happen. We thank the parents who attended the sleepover. I'm sure you all had a lot of fun and hopefully managed to get a little bit of sleep!
Once again, if I can be of assistance with any matter, feel free to contact me.
Ngā mihi
