Art Gallery trip

Anna Ollerenshaw —

Last week the Middle Syndicate went to the Art Gallery. Read what they did.

In week two the Middle Syndicate visited the Dunedin Public Art Gallery to learn more about our current art topic of portraits. John Neumegen took us on an educational tour of some of the galleries portraits and art works. We learnt lots, especially that a portrait isn't always a picture of someone facing the front, from the shoulders up. Then we headed to the studio classroom to create some of our own portraits. Each class had a different focus, as you can see below in some of the photographs. Many thanks to the parents who accompanied us to the Gallery, and to John for his knowledge and inspiration.

Room 10 did My Family portraits. Room 11 learnt how to create Picasso portraits.

In Room 14 they created Ukiyo-e portraits, and in Room 15 they painted Silly Hat portraits.
