Long-serving Board of Trustees members stand down.

Chris Smith —

On Monday evening we held our last Board meeting for 2020 and as part of this, we farewelled Beth Chisholm and David Irvine.

David Irvine has served our school community for 8 years. His chief role on the Board was his support towards the finance portfolio. David has been very influential within this vital area of the school and should be proud where the school now sits now financially. David will remain as key support to the school as his youngest child Beth, still has a number of years to go at Wakari.

Beth Chisholm joined the Board in 2015 and initially contributed to the school through the personnel committee. From here, Beth was elected as Board Chair in 2018. The relationship between Board Chair and Principal is integral in the workings of a school and Beth has ensured that this working arrangement has continued to deliver the best for the kids at Wakari. Beth has been extremely supportive of the school and its staff, she has challenged me to carefully consider options while also allowing me to pursue opportunities that have supported change within our structures and pedagogy.

Both Beth and David have added to the fabric of Wakari and I wish you and your families all the best in the future.

He aha te mea nui o te ao. He tangata, he tangata, he tangata.

What is the most important thing in the world? It is people, it is people, it is people.

Regards Chris
