Year 6 Camp Columba experience

Caroline Brown —

The Year Sixes had a fabulous camp earlier this year. It was our first time at Camp Columba and we loved it!

One of my favourite memories from camp was the speed slide because all the adults went down and they got airborne! I go so high off the ground that when I landed my bum hit the ground so hard that it hurt my bum for the rest of camp!

My favourite activity was high ropes because I achieved all of the levels, but our group was sad that we didn't get to have a go on the leap of faith.    by Gracie

These are my favourite camp memories of camp. Kayaking was one of my favourite activities because I never knew how to kayak. Another fun thing about camp with the zip line and flying kiwi. It was scary at first and when you got the hang of it after the second time it was quite fun. At one point we got to throw stuffed toys into a bucket while we were on a zip line who knows how high we went?!  While the last day of camp was sad in a way because we were going home my group had the waterslide. It was quite fun because you went zooming down if you had soap on you. Those were my camp memories I hope you like them.            By Kyle

This year the year sixes went to the astonishing CAMP COLUMBA!!! My favourite things were

1. Flying kiwi (A thing where you're in a harness and you get pulled up by a rope)

2. Food

3. Flying fox (just way more extreme than Woodhaugh Gardens).

Okay now for the thanks, first the parents that made this thing happen and the teachers.           By Toby

This year 6 camp was at Camp Columba where all the fun stuff happened. We did the zip line, flying kiwi, concrete slide etc.  My favourite part was kayaking. The kayak slide was fun too. The flying kiwi was when you could do super-man super shots and one more thing can't quite put my tongue on. It was fun though. Thank you to all the parents that helped we couldn't do it without you.              by Devon

Camp was great! My favourite part was the flying kiwi because they would yell “fly, kiwi, fly” and you would spin round and round going up. The flying fox was so long and really high the parents had to catch you at the end. Archery was great. I got two out of three on the board. Air Rifles were pretty cool. I got three out of five because I hit the milk bottles three times. I was really nervous about the speed slide but in the end it was pretty fun. Lilly the dog chased us down the slide. I would definitely go back.                 By Holly

My favourite parts about camp were…

In the bunk room there were heaters and there were sixteen beds in each bunk room. But there were only fourteen people sleeping in a bunk room.

I really liked the water slide and the concrete slide at the end.

For the water slide you soaped yourself up and you went down the slide and once your whole group had finished there’s a big tube and you got the tube and rolled the water slide up the hill to put it away.

For the concrete slide you have to get in a big bag and you wear a heavy helmet and your butt goes off the slide! Lilly the dog races you down each of the slides - the water slide and the concrete slide too.                By Marnie

One of my favourite memories about Year 6 camp was when we did the flying kiwi and you would get pulled up high in the air. I also liked the concrete slide and Lilly the dog would chase us down the slide . Lilly is a dog that lives at the camp. She is a golden lab and she loves pats.          By Lara
