A fun term in the Rooms 4 and 5 Hub.

Anna Lawson —

We have had such an exciting and busy term in the Rooms 4 and 5 Hub, with so much happening with fun visitors and a wide range of interesting and fun activites.

The term started with our Keeping Ourself safe topic.  Constable Greer came in and talked to the children about strategies they could use to keep themselves safe.  The books went home and most of the children worked hard with their families to complete the booklets. This was such an important issue for the children and the children not only enjoyed the topic but learnt some very important life skills.

We then moved to our Matauranga topic looking at the early Navigators who discovered New-Zealand, Tupia and Kupe who used the stars, ocean currents and birds to Navigate.  To celebrate this topic we created lanterns and Pip helped us to create fabulous Waka races on the Scratch Junior Apps on the i-pads.

The fun didn't stop there we had the amazing Tahu came to visit and we had fun dressing up and exploring conservation and how we can help our native birds.

Last week we had our dress up day all the children had so much fun getting into costume of their favourite book or movie characters.

The clever inventive Norman, Sophie's Grandad came in and shared his bee hives with us, we even got to taste some real honey from the hive.

To finish off the term we had Harold and the Life Education bus come to visit. The children loved meeting Harold and again learnt some valuable life lessons about friendship.

What a busy term we have had and to top it all off tonight we have our amazing Matariki celebrations. Well done to all the children in the Hub who have worked hard all term and deserve their well earned break.
