Aspiring rugby players get to meet their idols

Caroline Brown —

Following the recent success of the Black Ferns winning the World Cup, some of our female rugby players got to go and meet some of the players and have photos with the World Cup.

On Friday the 8th of September Elisabeth Hutton-Neill, Aliyah Epere, Maia Epere and Millie Mason went to see the Black Ferns at Hancock Park which is out by the beach. Victoria Nafatali, Kendra Cocksedge, Selica Winiata are the Black Ferns that came and met us. They live in Dunedin. We got to have some photos with the girls and some of us got to hold the cup and we got to wear the gold medals they got when they won the World Cup. We also got to pass some balls with the girls. We got to see the high schools girls play rugby. We stayed for about an hour talking to the Black Ferns and at about 12pm we went back to school. We are glad that we saw the Black Ferns, We liked getting signatures from them and having photos with them. We had the best time and we are glad we got to see our idols. Next year we are hoping to play like the girls did out there.
