A super start for the super stars in the Year 2 Hub.

Anna Lawson —

What an exciting start to the the year we have had in the Year 2 Hub. It has been a full on action packed few weeks.

We started the year, by going backwards. Going back to explore what Wakari School was like in the past.  We had a fabulous morning playing some of the games they would have played like knuckle bones, hopscotch, hoops and quoits. We discovered that, some of the games we still played, like catch and skipping which we found quite tricky, so we decided that we could all do with some practice at skipping. The children developed their skills very quickly, have a look at some of our amazing action shots.

The children have adapted very quickly to the new Hub routines.  Mrs Bonney and I have been very impressed at how the children have settled down to their learning.  We have had some wonderful stories at writing time and it is always fun to hear what the children have been up to.

We have had singing with Mrs Gribben which the children love, and we are learning to sing in rounds.  Pip comes to see us in the Hub every second week, and she has been teaching the children how to take a good photo with the I-pads.  We have had some amazing and very imaginative photos. There are some wonderful examples hanging in the hall if you have time to pop in.

The fun does not stop there, as we have been painting our self-portraits in art, exploring our basic facts in maths, learning some new Jump Jam routines, creating our own Hub treaty, and soon we will be starting swimming.  Wow as you can see a fun action packed term to start the new year.
